After one of the worst rain interrupted seasons ever seen,
we are finally at the end of the home and away fixture for season 2010/11. With
many highlights throughout the season, we’ll have a quick look at each grade and
where they have finished up this season.
Before I go on, congratulations to the following teams who have made finals
this season: D-Grade, One Day Grade, Veterans and Under 17s Joint-team.
Already we have enjoyed premiership success with the
Veterans defeating West Ivanhoe in tricky conditions last Sunday.
Congratulations to all players involved in the match and also throughout the
season. To view the match report click here..
The
One day grade has made it to the
finals again for the 3
rd time in 4 years. However they were not able
to maintain the 3 years of premiership success, losing to a strong Edinburgh
team in the semi-final. Congratulations to Brayden for putting his hand up to
take the capacity mid-way through the season and making it through to the
finals. All players should be congratulated as they made it through the finals
with a fantastic last round win over West Ivanhoe with two balls and two wickets
in hand.
Our
3rd XIs competing in
fourth grade made it through the finals with a outright win over Heidelberg to
make it through to play Edinburgh Maroon this upcoming weekend. Also our
under 17s team joint with Rosanna
won an entertaining and thrilling one wicket semi-final match against Banyule Maroon
to go through to the Grand Final to play East Ivanhoe White. More details on
the times and venues both teams will play later this week.
Commiserations goes out to our
2nd
XIs who didn’t make it through to the finals. At the start of the last
round, they were standing at 2
nd position and losing to top team Belfield
and other matches not going our way, we finished 5
th just one point
behind East Ivanhoe. Well done to Bol for getting his team so close.
A-Grade yet again had a difficult year,
finishing 7
th place with only two wins, but a lot of positives have
come out of this season with new faces earning their stripes in the team. I’m
sure everyone in the team and the club will be fighting very hard to be in contention
for the finals next season.
Last but not least we have our young
under
13s team, coached by Mark Sheedy. With results not going their way, they
had a fun season nevertheless with each player giving it 110% each week.
Well done to all of them and hopefully we’ll see them back and other new juniors for next season.
With the season still going, please find the time to support the two teams that
are still playing and lets hope they can add two more flags for the club.
